Carry-on Bag Essentials
As one who travels often, for both business and pleasure, I have developed a habit of being prepared by always traveling with a few essentials in my carry-on bag. My preference is to have a dedicated travel pack that I only use for traveling, but either way here are a few ideas that might help you during your next trip.
Items That “Live” in the Bag
- Travel Wallet containing my passport, business cards, $100 cash, travel cards (Global entry, Frequent Flyer, Priority Pass, etc.), and a pen.
- Refillable Water Bottle
- Reading Glasses (for us old folks)
- Sleep Kit containing travel pillow, ear plugs and eye mask
- Spare Ear Bud Headphones
- Inflatable Lumbar Pillow (saves my back)
- Snack Bag containing Power Bars, Beef Jerky, Nuts, Mints, etc.
- Mini First Aid Kit containing Band-Aids, Advil, Disinfectant Wipes, Rolaids, Imodium, Lip Balm, Nail Clippers, Moisturizer lotion, Hand Sanitizer, etc.
Items That are Added Day of Travel
- Prescription Medications
- Personal Electronics – Smart Phone, Tablet/Laptop, Bluetooth Speakers, etc.
- Pouch containing chargers, power cords, plug converters, power converters, etc.
- Books/Magazines
- Sunglasses
- Camera
- Puffy Jacket (Patagonia Nano-Puff or similar)
- Light Windbreaker (Patagonia Houdini Jacket or similar)
Other Potential Items to Consider
- Travel Socks/Compression Socks
- Change of Clothes
- Noise Cancelling Headphones
